Philosophy

What we believe, and how you'd see it on a Tuesday

A philosophy is only worth anything if you can watch it happen. Here's what we believe about children, and the everyday practice that proves it.

Our beliefs

Six commitments we hold ourselves to

Children are capable

We assume competence. Children serve their own food, solve their own disputes and are trusted with real tools and real responsibility.

Relationships come first

Learning follows attachment. Stable teams, unhurried greetings and educators who know your child's story.

Play is the work

Deep, uninterrupted play is where problem solving, language and negotiation actually develop. We protect it fiercely.

Nature is a teacher

Weather, water, uneven ground and living things give children feedback no indoor resource can replicate.

Families are partners

You know your child best. Our job is to build on what you're doing, not to hand you a policy at the door.

Country is respected

We acknowledge the Bundjalung people as Traditional Custodians of the land and waters our children learn on.

In practice

Intentional teaching, not scheduled activities

Educators observe what a child is drawn to, then deliberately add something: a question, a material, a book, a challenge. That's intentional teaching, and it's why a child's interest in the tide can turn into weeks of measurement, drawing and research.

The Early Years Learning Framework gives us the outcomes. Your child gives us the direction.

Book a tour

The best way to know is to walk through the door

Tours run during the day so you can see the rooms as they really are, busy, calm, noisy, happy. Bring your child. Ask us anything.
