Food & nutrition

Cooked here, eaten together, grown where we can

Both campuses have a chef and a kitchen, not a delivery van. Children smell lunch being made, help prepare it, and sit down to eat it with their educators.

Our approach

Mealtimes are relationships, not logistics

Children serve themselves from shared platters where they can, pour their own water and clear their own places. Educators sit and eat with them, which is where much of the day's best conversation happens.

Nobody is made to finish a plate. Children decide how much they take and whether they try something new, and they almost always try it eventually because everyone around them is.

Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack are all included, along with the whole nursery progression from first purees to family meals.

Food as learning

From the garden to the table

Growing it

Children plant, water, weed and harvest from the campus gardens, then take produce straight to the kitchen.

Cooking it

Regular cooking experiences with the chef: measuring, mixing, tasting and the maths that hides inside a recipe.

Sharing it

Meals eaten together at the table, indoors or out, with the conversation that goes with them.

Questions

Food questions families ask

Do I need to pack food?
No. Meals and snacks are prepared fresh on site each day and included in your fees. Babies' bottles and expressed milk are the exception, you bring those.
How are allergies managed?
Dietary needs and allergies are recorded at enrolment, shared with the chef and educators, and displayed where food is prepared and served. Medical management plans are followed exactly.
What if my child is a fussy eater?
We serve family style and let children choose what and how much to take. No child is pressured or bribed. Repeated relaxed exposure alongside peers does more than any negotiation.
Can I see the menu?
Menus rotate seasonally and are displayed at each campus. Current menu and how to request a copy: [CONFIRM WITH BEACH KIDS].

The best way to know is to walk through the door

Tours run during the day so you can see the rooms as they really are, busy, calm, noisy, happy. Bring your child. Ask us anything.
